Hiking in a Dress to the Top of the World (BC)

For the third year in a row I picked a challenge, grabbed a school girl dress, and brought along a few others to join me in some Do It in a Dress fun.  For this year, five of us headed to Top of the World Park in beautiful British Columbia, all of whom are seasoned backcountry hikers.  This made my job pretty easy to be honest.  Even the dog "Rosco" carried his own backpack.

The Hikers Without Pants Are Back

It's been a BIG week.

Just this past weekend, I was on stage telling the story of the first "Hikers Without Pants" event to 3000 people at the World Domination Summit in Portland.  It was incredible, and the feedback from the crowd and everyone who approached me over the weekend was through the roof.   It was a serious honor to share a tiny piece of myself with so many incredible people.

I Went Climbing Without Pants for Do It in a Dress

I'll be honest.  Wearing a dress out in public is getting to be a pretty natural thing for me nowadays.

To be fair, I'm usually heading out to do something awesome in it.

In August 2012, my father, brother and I hiked for 5 days and over 70km along the Berg Lake Trail in the Canadian Rockies, and we did it while wearing school girl dresses.  Why?  We did it as part of Do It in a Dress, an initiative by the Australian-based organization One Girl, who's programs help support scholarships for young girls and women entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone.  In every way possible, it was a huge success.

This year we multiplied and became the "Climbers Without Pants."

A Do It In a Dress Update

ast summer I went on a 5-day backcountry hike with my brother (Jeff) and father (Dale) in the Canadian Rockies, and as I usually do, I put my own last minute spin on it.

We did it in a dress, and it was awesome.

I've already mentioned it in a past, but as the season is about to start again, I thought I'd toss out some of my views and updates on what happened since last year...

What's Been Going On - January 2013 - Asia
So you may be wondering why it has been so quiet around here.  The short answer... is Burma (Myanmar).
Back in October I headed back to Burma for another 5 week stint, hiking lush valleys, visiting hilltribes, biking around to monasteries, and talking to the people about their country and democracy.  As all of my trips to the country have been, it was quite eye opening, and left me yearning for more and more.

Project Do It In a Dress: The Berg Lake Trail Part 1 - Canada
The crack of the ice as it breaks off a glacier and falls into a lake to become an iceberg is just like thunder on a clear da;  Out of nowhere.
Oh and it sounds like thunder as well.
This feeling of something not seeming quite right is probably what most people thought when they saw three men donning schoolgirl dresses on the Berg Lake Trail as we made our way up and down it over the course of five days.

I'm Doing It in a Dress
I've been busy this past week putting the finishing touches on a hike that my brother (Jeff), and Dad (Dale) have been preparing to do.  You see, we've been planning this 60+km hike on the Berg Lake Trail in the Canadian Rocky Mountains for a little while, but when I arrived back in Canada after  WDS in the middle on July, I had something up my sleeve.
I was going to hike in a dress
So I convinced them to join me.
Since I'm literally leaving in less than 6 hours, and I think I should get some sleep, I'll save the story for when I retur.  In the meantime, please read about Do It in a Dress, support us if you like, and consider joining our team "Hikers Without Pants" on your next hiking adventure.
Here are some shots from our photo shoo...
